Getting The Most Out Of Your Red Wine
I think it's safe to say that most of us enjoy a bottle of our favourite wine at the end of the week (or even at the beginning). There’s nothing quite like getting home, putting your comfy clothes on and putting your feet up whilst watching your favourite series or film. When it comes to drinking red wine, there are a couple of things you can do to enhance your drinking experience, there’s nothing worse than feeling you haven’t made the most of your well earned money. To avoid this feeling, here are a couple of things you can do to get the most out of your australian red wine!
Temperature
Many of us think that red wine is to be kept on the countertop at all times so that it can be drank at room temperature, however, wine experts say that red wine should actually be chilled slightly so that it reads between 55 - 65 °. To achieve this, simply pop it in the fridge for 10 minutes before serving, this prevents the wine becoming too warm and in turn, tasting bitter.
Breathe
No not you, the wine! When your wine meets Oxygen, it loosens up the flavours and therefore, you get a better experience both on the nose and on the palate. Red wines are said always need time to breath due to their complex array of ingredients and formations, see it as unlocking your red wines true potential.
Pairing
Now it is a commonly known tradition that white wine goes with fish and red wine goes with meat. However, you will find that wine have become sweeter over the past few years and so these guidelines are now outdated. The best way to go about pairing is to see what you enjoy as an individual, if you have a red wine that goes will with a fish dish, go with it!
