What are Biodynamic wines?
Biodynamic wines are a step beyond organic wine. Not only are they made from produce that does not use any chemical intervention, but are also made in a way that ensures all vines are healthy, deeply rooted and have a benefit on the ecosystem. This may mean that the use of herbal and other remedies are used for both soil and plants, ensuring that the vineyard is a thriving ecosystem.

fungicides, herbicides, synthetic fertilizers, growth stimulants and GMOs. A vineyard that is given certification as ‘Biodynamic’ meets and typically exceeds the standards and regulations than that of an organic certified farm.
The term biodynamic refers to an agricultural movement that gained popularity in the 1920s and was defined by Dr. Rudolf Steiner, a professor and philosopher from Austria. The goal of these are to get a vineyard, farmyard or backyard to be self-sustaining, utilizing waste products from one zone and making it fuel for another. Effectively, Biodynamic vineyards are seen as “living, breathing organisms itself from the soil to the sun, all striving for a well balanced ecosystem that is self sustaining.
One of the central principles of farming this way is to make sure that the vine is as rooted and happy in its environment as it can be, where sensible biodynamic farmers understand that in order to bring forth the best grapes for wine making, they must understand the environment and plant health, along with its happiness in what will create biodynamic, organic fruits that will make spectacular wine. Although biodynamic and organic wines area considered much better for us, and the eco system, they are by no means automatically sulphite free or low sulphite.
