Are healthy natural wines just that?
Wine is one of the most popular drinks in the world, consumed all over the globe. The wine making and merchant industry has been continuously growing, with advancements into research that has led to healthy natural wines being made that can have health benefits.There have been countless studies that have tried to clear the matter surrounding wine and if it has health benefits. Whilst alcohol is generally considered as a bad thing, wine does actually have certain characteristics that could prove to be health beneficial in moderation, should you choose to drink it.
Alcohol is considered to be a rather filling drink, which means when you drink it with a meal, it may make you feel ‘full’ quicker. This means you’ll effectively be tempted to eat less that can reduce calorie count. The alcohol will allow slow down your digestion, meaning you’ll stay filled up for a longer period of time.
Wine has been considered to be beneficial to one’s health thanks to its flavonoids, non-flavonoids, antioxidants and resveratrol, which help in decreasing the bad cholesterol LDL in your body. Not only do they decrease the bad cholesterol, but increase the good! This means issues such as heart disease can be combated in ways through drinking healthy wine in moderation.
According to some research, red wine has proved to help us increase brain power. Those red wine drinker’s will be pleased to hear that research has suggested that mental aging is slowed down, whilst also being considered the most ‘health beneficial’ colour that wine is available in.
Whilst wine may be considered to be health beneficial, it must be remembered that it can also have negative effects on our bodies. Excessive consumption of any type of wine – or in fact alcohol in general can lead to serious health issues. The most destructive effect that wine can have on your body is to your liver. It is also recommended that anyone who is pregnant should avoid alcohol all together, as it can have negative effects on the baby. Other physiological effects can occur from excessive drinking, so it is important to remember this when drinking wine and other forms of alcohol.
