RAW Natural Wine Fair London
The RAW Natural Wine Fair will be taking place on Sunday 20th and Monday 21st May 2012 at the Old Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane, London E1 6QL. The fair is the successor of The Natural Wine Fair 2011 and is open to the public on Sunday at £20 per person, while Monday will be trade only day.The event is being organised by Isabelle Legeron, Master of Wine and co founder of the 2011 fair. The fair will be showcasing individual distinctive producers making natural wines.
The 2011 fair had somewhat restricted offerings of wine, but this year Isabelle has worked hard to make the fair independent and open to everybody; which should definitely help to increase public interest. Winemakers from all of the main wine making regions will be at the event, including some from the lesser known regions such as Croatia and Georgia. All this will hopefully provide a much better representation of quality and styles.
A major highlight of the RAW Natural Wine Fair this year will be the attendance of Philippe Viret. Philippe and his father, Alain, are famous for their unique system of cosmoculture, a blend of biodynamic farming principles with the harnessing of telluric energies which are fed into the vineyard. This process has helped them develop perfect fruit allowing for chemical free wines of the highest quality. These wines are delicious, good for you and will keep for many years.
Philippe and Alain are well known for their Domain Viret wines, which are both sulphite free and vegan friendly. Everything that goes into the vines and wine is natural, without the use of any additional oenological products.
